p-Nitroblue Tetrazolium Chloride is an NADPH-diaphorase substrate that competitively inhibits NOS (nitric oxide synthase) (IC50 = 3-4 μM). p-Nitroblue Tetrazolium Chloride is a well-known scavenger of superoxide anions and is useful as a substrate for alkaline phosphatase, often in conjunction with BCIP.
Uses: Dehydrogenase or oxidase substrate, often in combination with BCIP, used to detect superalkaline phosphatase activity
Uses: Substrates for dehydrogenases and other peroxidases. For the determination of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (glucose-6-phosphatedehydrogenase); it is also a precipitation reagent for coagulation factor I (fibrinogen). It is also one of the substrates of alkaline phosphatase, which generates an insoluble blue product under the catalysis of alkaline phosphatase. It is commonly used in experiments such as immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC) and western blotting (WB).
