Gotu Kola P.E. has been used medicinally in China for more than 2000 years, and many other countries and regions such as Madagascar, South Africa, India, Southeast Asian countries and South America also use Centella asiatica as a brain-boosting drug, diuretic and an adjuvant for leprosy and ulcers, as well as for skin diseases. Centella asiatica is listed in the pharmacopoeias of China, France, Spain, Mexico, India, the Netherlands, Venezuela and other countries. Centella asiatica extract is the whole herb of Centella asiatica, family Umbelliferae, and the commercial extract is usually standardized to contain 9% Centella asiatica acids. Note: Centella asiatica standard extract specifications: Centella asiatica acid 29%-30%, Centella asiatica glycosides 40%, Hydroxy Centella asiatica acid 29%-30%, Hydroxy Centella asiatica glycosides 1%-2%.

The main role is as a promoter and regulator of wound healing, which can activate epithelial cells, promote the formation of normal granulation tissue, and inhibit the proliferation of fibroblasts.
