Introduction: N,N-Dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine hydrochloride is a white to off-white crystalline powder, which is easy to absorb moisture. It gradually changes color when exposed to light and oxygen. Melting point 199 ℃. Soluble in water, ethanol, benzene and chloroform, slightly soluble in ether. Reaction with organic peroxides yields a purple-red product.
