3-[3-(cholamidopropyl) dimethylamino] propanesulfonic acid inner salt use and synthesis method
Biological Activity: CHAPS, a derivative of Cholicacid, is a zwitterionic detergent that solubilizes membrane proteins. CHAPS is used to stabilize various protein-DNA complexes and can retain the biochemical activity of proteins in solution.
Uses: CHAPS is a non-denaturing zwitterionic detergent for membrane biochemistry. Can be used to solubilize membrane proteins and disrupt protein-protein interactions. CHAPS has a low micellar molecular weight (6,150) and a high critical micelle concentration (6-10 mM) and can therefore be removed from the sample by dialysis. It is also suitable for solubilizing proteins in isoelectric focusing and 2D electrophoresis. CHAPS is commonly used in native (urea-free) isoelectric focusing and has been found to give excellent resolution for certain subcellular preparations and plant proteins. Typically concentrations between 2-4% (w/v) are used for isoelectric focusing gels.
Uses: A non-denaturing zwitterionic detergent for membrane biochemistry, which can be used to solubilize membrane proteins and disrupt protein-protein interactions; also suitable for solubilizing proteins in isoelectric focusing and two-dimensional electrophoresis; commonly used in Non-denaturing (no urea) isoelectric focusing; RNA and DNA extraction, no RNase and DNase activity
Uses: Amphoteric surfactant, CHAPS is a non-denaturing zwitterionic detergent, protein lysate for solubilizing membrane proteins and lysing interactions between proteins and proteins.
