OVERVIEW: Quinol dimethacrylate is a water-soluble vitamin E. Water-soluble vitamins are a class of organic compounds that are indispensable for maintaining the normal life activities of the human body and require less. Quinol dimethacrylate can be prepared from 1,4-dihydroxy-2,3,5-trimethylbenzene, aqueous formalin and methyl methacrylate as starting materials.
Preparation: In a 200mL glass container equipped with a condenser, add 16.7g (59.1mmolCCM, chemical purity: 93.5%) into the CCM prepared above), put 16.7g methanol, 3.3g (82.5mmol) of NaOH and 50 g of water, and the mixture was subjected to hydrolysis of the ester at 80 °C under nitrogen atmosphere. Stir for one hour with stirring. The reaction solution was filtered at the same temperature to remove insoluble matter, and then added dropwise to an acidic solution obtained by dissolving 11.7 g (85.9 mmol) of potassium hydrogen sulfate in 50 g of water over one hour. Keep at 80°C. in a 300 ml glass container fitted with a condenser. After the neutralization treatment was completed, crystals precipitated immediately when stirring was stopped, and the reaction mixture was allowed to stand. The crystals were filtered at 80°C, washed twice with 50 mL of water, and then dried under vacuum at 80°C. The reaction was carried out for 24 hours to obtain 14.5 g (57.9 mmol) of 6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylbenzo-2-carboxylic acid, quinodimethacrylate (hereinafter referred to as CCA) ( Yield: 98.3%, chemical purity: 99.7%).
Biological Activity: Trolox is a water-soluble analog of vitamin E with powerful antioxidant properties. Trolox is also a powerful inhibitor of membrane damage.
Uses: An antioxidant derived from water-soluble vitamin E with free radical scavenging and antioxidant activity.
